Jagan Needs Mahesh, Not Naresh

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is said to be not very much enthusiastic about the joining of yesteryear’s superstar Krishna and his actress-director wife Vijaya Nirmala, along with her son Naresh in his party.

Though Jagan welcomed them into the party, he is not very jubilant with their entry as they would anyway not add any strength to the party.

However, Jagan has other ideas. According to YSR Congress party sources, Jagan is of the view that if Krishna and Vijayanirmala join his party, their younger son Mahesh Babu would also follow suit very soon.

All said and done, Mahesh Babu has a lot of fan following and if he joins YSR Congress, it would fetch a lot of attraction to the party.

Even if Mahesh Babu is not willing to enter politics at this stage, he can at least extend support to him and campaign for the party in the elections, whenever they are held.

In fact, before 2009 elections, Jagan’s father late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had personally requested Mahesh Babu to canvass for the Congress, at least for a few days in sensitive constituencies, so that it would cheer up the Congress workers and improve the Congress chances of winning. Somehow, Mahesh Babu could not make it due to work pressure.

YSR picture disappears on Sakshi channel

Posted under Home,News by Remo on Thursday 23 June 2011 at 1:58 am

Those who have been watching the news bulletins on Sakshi television channel regularly might have noticed the smiling picture of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy with flowers showering on it at the top right side of the screen. Obviously, it is aimed at reminding the people that the channel is dedicated to the departed leader.

But on Tuesday, the picture of YSR on Sakshi channel was missing on the screen for quite some time.

During this period, the channel was telecasting the news about the sad demise of Telangana ideologue Prof K Jayashankar continuously. It was telecasting live the goings on at Jayashankar’s residence at Warangal and carrying phone-in interviews with Telangana leaders recalling their association with the departed leader.

So, instead of YSR’s picture at the top right side, the channel carried the picture of Prof Jayashankar with a graphic of lamps on either side as if paying homage to him.

Of course, after a couple of hours, YSR’s picture was back on the television screen at its original spot when the channel began telecasting the Odarpu Yatra of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy!

Viveka Repenting For Resigning From Cabinet

Posted under Home,News by Vincent on Monday 30 May 2011 at 9:51 am

Former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy is definitely crest-fallen for not being nominated to the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota, but he is trying to put up a brave front.

Sources close to him say Viveka is now repenting for resigning from the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet. “Had he continued as the minister, the government would have no option but to re-nominate him to the legislative council, as Kiran would not have dared ask him to resign after the defeat in Pulivendula by-elections. But Viveka had done a little over-action and tried to project himself as a sincere politician with values. See what happened, he is neither here, nor there,” sources said.

However, Viveka is still optimistic that the Congress high command would acknowledge his “sacrifice” for the ministerial post to save the Congress party in Pulivendula. He is now expecting that the high command would nominate him to Rajya Sabha, but it still another 11 months to go. Till such time, Viveka has to go into political oblivion!

With each passing day, the presence of YSR Congress is making some impact in the Andhra Pradesh politics. With leaders from other parties showing inclination to join this newly led unit by YS Jagan, the speculations are growing wide among the analysts. Now, an interesting development is making rounds.
With an almost confirmed buzz that superstar Krishna is likely to join the YSR Congress around this month end, another interesting update has arrived. It is heard that even Nagarjuna is slowly making his moves towards the YSR congress camp. And here, the reasons are quite varied, as per sources.
Apparently, the talk is that the late YSR did many land settlements for Nagarjuna during his regime and it is Nag’s gratitude towards him. On the other hand, there is also a theory that to whoever YSR helped and they don’t show gratitude, YS Jagan will not like it.

‘Farmer-friendly’ Babu to continue YSR scheme

Certain schemes introduced by former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy have become so popular that no other party can dare remove them even if it comes to power.

The prominent among such schemes is “free power supply to farmers.” The scheme has become such a mega hit among the people that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu had no other option but to announce that he would continue the scheme, if the TDP comes to power in the 2014 elections.

“We will continue the free-power-supply-to-farmers scheme. And we will give it for nine hours continuously, instead of staggered power supply for just seven hours being given at present.

“We will also include it in our manifesto in the next elections,” Naidu said.

The TDP president also tried to project himself as farmer-friendly.

“We will have a special budget exclusively for agriculture. Our Mahanadu has been dedicated to farmers. A special committee will be appointed to discuss the farmers’ issue in Mahanadu at a separate session,” he said.

Butchaiah Choudary To Join YSR Congress?

Posted under Home,News by Vincent on Wednesday 25 May 2011 at 10:23 am

Reeling under the impact of the rebellion by Nagam Janardhan Reddy, the Telugu Desam Party received another jolt when its senior leader Gorantla Butchaiah Choudary indicated that he would be leaving the party. Choudary, who has been with TDP since its inception in 1982, has been sulking for some time as he feels that he is being sidelined in the party. Though he has not made any public statement about his future moves, it is learnt that he is planning to join the YSR Congress Party headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The infighting in the TDP in Rajahmundry appears to be the reason for Choudary’s dramatic decision to quit the party. He has been telling his close followers that he was unable to put up with the indifference being shown by the leadership towards him. He is peeved over the machinations of a small "coterie" surrounding the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

The former minister feels that he is not getting due recognition despite working for the party for nearly three decades with commitment and dedication. Inspired by NTR’s call, he had joined the TDP in 1982 and was elected to the Assembly four times. He was a minister in the NTR cabinet. During the August 1995 crisis and the subsequent split in the party, he sided with NTR and later worked with Lakshmi Parvathi. Subsequently, he made peace with Chandrababu and returned to the party fold. AT present, he is the general secretary of the party.

Nagam All Set To ‘join’ YSR Congress

Posted under Home,News by Vincent on Monday 23 May 2011 at 10:24 am

Hyderabad: Infighting in TDP appears to have reached a flash point as senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy shot off a letter to party president N Chandrababu Naidu reiterating his demand that the party write to Union home minister P Chidamabaram stating its stand on bifurcation of the state.

Taking strong objection to this, the TDP Telangana forum which met here on Sunday at the party headquarters not only condemned the attitude of Nagam but also decided to submit a written recommendation to the party president urging him to take disciplinary action against him.

A senior leader, who did not want to be identified, said there was a strong suspicion in party circles that Nagam would switch sides to YSR Congress and all his acts were aimed at promoting the new outfit which he along with two others may join soon. He also alleged that the family members of Nagam were executing some contract works for Jagan.

Talking to media after the TDP Telangana forum meeting, the party spokesperson A Revanth Reddy challenged Nagam to prove that TDP was anti-Telangana.

"TDP had not only shown great concern for the development of the region when it was in power but it also passed a resolution at the party Mahanadu in 2008 supporting separate T state and would vote for it in the assembly when a Bill was introduced," he claimed.

The party would organise ‘Telangana Ranabheri’ on May 25 at Karimnagar, he said.

However, Nagam said he wanted the TDP to come clear on the issue so that it can regain its foothold in the region.
