The clock is ticking for yet another big Tollywood wedding. It is none other than mega powerstar Ramcharan Tej tying the knot to his sweetheart Upasana Kamineni.

Now, mega fans and many others are eagerly waiting to have the details about the wedding and other related events.
Our sources reveal that the wedding has been slated to take place in New Delhi. This is reportedly an idea of Chiranjeevi who wants to perform it in the presence of Sonia Gandhi. This is likely to be a private affair and even Rahul Gandhi along with the other seniors such as Antony, Veerappa Moily, Jaipal Reddy, Chidambaram etc would be invited.
This would be followed by a grand gala reception in Hyderabad. However, it is not sure if a separate feast would be arranged for the mega fans. After the hiccups that took place during Allu Arjun’s wedding, the mega family is reportedly keen on not repeating any such things and make this occasion a memorable one for all. The truth will be known once the official announcements arrive.

Chennai/New Delhi, Aug 18: Stating that the treatment meted out to Anna Hazare was totally wrong, Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre should apologise to the anti-graft crusader for putting him and his supporters behind bars.

"This kind of treatment was totally wrong. Our name internationally is being spoilt. There is no use blaming other countries for making allegations that Anna Hazare is supported by America and all that," Swamy told mediapersons in Chennai.

"The fact is that the government of India owes an apology to Anna Hazare and as a part of the atonement, the Home Minister, who is directly responsible for it should be removed," he added.

Taking a dig at the UPA Ministers, Swamy further said the Prime Minister of the country only speaks, but it is others who decide on what action should be taken.

"The Prime Minister only speaks but the action is taken by Ahmed Patel and other people. Ahmed Patel and Sonia Gandhi and she through her son now, they are the ones who are taking the decision. All the other ministers are servants," he added.

Anna protests: US Senator McCain lauds India’s democracy

Posted under Home,News by Vincent on Friday 19 August 2011 at 11:33 am

New Delhi, Aug 18: US Senator John McCain Thursday brushed off the allegation by a Congress politician hinting at a US hand in stoking protests led by social activist Anna Hazare and stressed that the US does not involve itself in internal affairs of the world’s largest democracy.

‘People are entitled to their opinions and views. The US does not involve itself in the affairs of what is happening in the world’s largest democracy,’ McCain, who is on a six-day visit to India, told reporters here.

He was responding to a question on Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi’s remarks about US ‘support’ for Hazare and a foreign power trying to destabilise India.

McCain, who was the Republican presidential nominee in the 2008 US election, responded tactically when asked about mass protests against corruption in India.

‘Our democratic politics will be energetic and contentious. We value our relationship as the world’s two largest democracies,’ said the senator.

Inspired by Team Anna, Pakistani to fast against corruption

Posted under Home,News by Vincent on Thursday 18 August 2011 at 10:08 am

New Delhi, Aug 18: Taking a cue from Anna Hazare, a 68-year-old Pakistani businessman is set to go on hunger strike in Islamabad from Sep 12 to declare war on endemic corruption in his country.

Expressing his admiration for Hazare, Jehangeeer Akhtar complained that corruption was a far more serious disease in Pakistan.

Activist Akhtar wants the Pakistan parliament to pass an anti-corruption law — like what India is now planning.

‘I demand that an anti-corruption bill be presented in the National Assembly,’ said Akhtar, who has closely followed the anti-corruption war in India.

He said the Pakistani bill should be on the lines of what gets passed in India’s parliament.

‘Corruption in Pakistan is more than in India… bahut zyada (much more),’ Akhtar told IANS in a telephonic interview from Islamabad where he runs a photography business.

It is not the first time Akhtar will be taking up cudgels for a cause.

Rs 2.15 lakh crore collected as spectrum, licence fee

Posted under Home,News by Vincent on Thursday 18 August 2011 at 10:01 am

New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) The government has collected Rs.2.15 lakh crore for 2G, 3G and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum and licensing from the telecom operators up to June 2011, the Lok Sabha was informed Wednesday.

The government has received Rs.1.27 lakh crore as the spectrum charges and Rs.88,095 crore as the licence fee from telcom operators, Minister of State for Communications and IT Milind Deora said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

The minister said the telecom regulator has recommended delinking of spectrum from licenses in future licensing. The recommendations are being considered by the government.

Speaking on the recent hike in call tariffs by some operators, the minister said that the hike is not across the board, but for certain plans and categories.

‘The major change is in respect of on-network local and STD charges which have been restructured to be at par with off-net call charges. The service providers have attributed this change to increase in the cost of providing service and decline in profitability to improve the quality of service despite spectrum constraints,’ he said.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued regulatory prescriptions as per which the existing subscribers are protected from any hike in tariff for a specified period.

The minister also said that the operators have assured the TRAI that tariff for existing subscribers will be protected against hike in accordance with the regulatory mandates.

RGV deserves standing ovation: Mahesh Bhatt

Posted under Bollywood,Entertainment,Tollywood by Vincent on Wednesday 17 August 2011 at 3:18 pm

New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) Acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt describes Ram Gopal Varma as a ‘man who has audacity’, and says he should be given a standing ovation for making an ‘outstanding’ film like ‘Not A Love Story’, which releases Friday.

‘Ram Gopal Varma deserves a standing ovation for making an outstanding film, ‘NOT A LOVE STORY’ raises the bar for Indian Cinema,’ Bhatt posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

He watched the film Tuesday. The movie, which features Deepak Dobriyal and Mahie Gill, is inspired by the 2008 murder case of television executive Neeraj Grover, that led to the arrest of Kannada actress Maria Susairaj and co-accused, ex-naval officer Emile Jerome Mathew.

Maria, who was sentenced to three years in jail by a Mumbai court for destroying evidence, was released from jail last month after she completed the term in detention. Emile Jerome was sentenced to 10 years jail term after the court found him ‘guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder’.

Bhatt, known for films like ‘Arth’, ‘Saaransh’, ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ and ‘Zakhm’, is quite confident the film will be appreciated.

‘Ramu uses a brand new technology in this film. This film will certainly be a game changer. ‘Not a love story’ is an audacious work of a filmmaker who wants to touch the audience rather than impress them. Its world view moves u. Ramgopal Verma’s ‘Not a love story’…is actually a great love story,’ he added.

The movie has been in news as Maria sent a legal notice to Varma questioning the content of the film.

Delhi police commissioner defends decision to arrest Anna

Posted under Home,News by Vincent on Wednesday 17 August 2011 at 10:25 am

New Delhi, Aug 16 (ANI): Clarifying its stand over the arrest of veteran social activist, Delhi Police Commissioner BK Gupta on Tuesday said Anna Hazare defied the law by not following the directives issued by the police.

Gupta said the police had clamped Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code, which prohibits the assembly of five or more people, on the venue and on all roads leading up to it to prevent gatherings of protesters.

"Our police officers contacted Anna Hazareji in the morning and told him that section 144 has been imposed in and around JP Park and requested him not to go to the venue. But he said he would be going to the venue, so we had to tell him, in that situation you will have to court arrest and we will arrest you," Gupta told mediapersons at a press conference here.

"Under section 107, 151, which is imposed when we have indications of some cognizable offence of breach of peace to take place, under these sections we arrested him," he added.

Gupta said around 1300 to 1400 civilians were also detained under Section 165 and will be released in a few hours.

CWG a success despite hurdles, claims Sheila Dikshit

Sheila-Dikshit105876

New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) Even as the CAG has slammed the Delhi government for lapses in awarding contracts for the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG), Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Monday said the city hosted the sporting event successfully despite hurdles.

A Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report blamed her ‘active involvement’ for causing a loss of over Rs.30 crore to the exchequer in Commonwealth Games-related projects.

‘Delhi as the host city organised Commonwealth Games successfully last year. We achieved this marvellous success despite a number of obstacles, difficulties and apprehensions,’ said Dikshit in her speech at an Independence Day function at Chhatrasal Stadium here.

Acknowledging the marked improvement in illumination levels on roads in the national capital, the CAG said that ‘the decision to use imported luminaries on selected ‘A’ category of roads was not based on technical parameters, but was taken with the active involvement of the chief minister, this resulted in avoidable expenditure of more than Rs.30 crore.’

In its report tabled in parliament, the CAG also said that the street beautification project was ‘ill-conceived and ill-planned’, resulting in a wasteful expenditure of over Rs.100 crore.

New Delhi, Aug 15: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi Monday attended the Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony at the party office and said party president Sonia Gandhi was doing much better after her surgery. He later held discussions with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Rahul Gandhi returned to the capital Sunday after being with his mother who underwent surgery earlier this month in the US.

‘She is much better,’ Rahul told reporters.

Though Congress leaders were keen that Rahul Gandhi should hoist the tricolour in the party office in the absence of his mother, the flag was unfurled by party treasurer Motilal Vora.

Party sources said the young leader suggested that the flag should be hoisted by Vora, who is considered senior both by his rank and age.

After the ceremony, Rahul Gandhi met the prime minister for over an hour. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and party leader Janardan Dwivedi were also present at the meeting.

Party leaders, however, remained tight-lipped over the meeting.
